‘Avoid gender-based recruitment in police’
: Noted social crusader Bibi Inderjit Kaur, chairperson of the All India Pingalwara Charitable Society, running a home for the destitute here, on Friday, said corruption was rampant in the police department and one of the reasons is that the police are not provided necessary funds for different social tasks they are assigned to perform.
Kaur was speaking at the zonal (border) level conference on the ‘Role of women in police and attitudinal shift’ held at Sri Ram Ashram School here.

In such a situation, police sometimes seek our help to accomplishment their assignments. There are many such tasks they have to do but they don’t have funds. This is also one of the root causes of corruption in the department. The government must allocate funds for such tasks too it it wants to curb corruption in the police ,” she added.
