MBA arrested with explosives in car in Mohali
The Punjab Police’s Counter-Intelligence wing, on Wednesday, arrested a Faridabad resident, Inderjit Singh alias Rinku, who has an MBA degree after engineering, from Mohali with explosive material and accessories concealed in his Ford Figo Aspire car with Haryana registration number. The police claim Singh has confessed that he was learning to make IEDs with ‘Do it Yourself’ kits.
MOHALI: Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence wing, on Wednesday, arrested a Faridabad resident, Inderjit Singh alias Rinku, who has an MBA degree after engineering, from Mohali with explosive material and accessories concealed in his Ford Figo Aspire car with Haryana registration number. The police claim Singh has confessed that he was learning to make Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) with ‘Do it Yourself’ kits, after Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) contacted him over Facebook, two years ago.
A Mohali court remanded Inderjit in three-day police custody on Thursday. Inderjit worked with a private company in Faridabad, police sources added.
The explosive material recovered from his possession included digital remote control (multifunctional type), two light remote controls, and various types of chemicals. A police spokesperson said, “Investigation shows that Pakistani intelligence officers had chosen him because of his posts and profile on social media and went on to radicalise him.”

The spokesperson added that Pakistani intelligence officers who contacted Inderjit were also coordinating with the terror module that was busted by the state police’s counter-intelligence wing on May 29, 2017.
“The mastermind of that terror module, Harbarinder Singh, a resident of Mohali, was also in contact with Inderjit over Facebook. After Harbarinder’s arrest, Inderjit was operating as a lone wolf,” the spokesperson said, adding Inderjit was highly radicalised and motivated to carry out terrorist activities.
‘WAS TASKED WITH CARRYING OUT BLASTS IN PUNJAB’
The spokesperson went on to add that preliminary interrogation of the suspect had revealed that he was acting at the behest of his ISI handlers, who had tasked him to carry out blasts in Punjab, with explosives made from locally available chemicals and devices that were to be procured from online marketing websites.
A case has been registered against him under sections 17, 18 and 20 of the Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act and sections 3, 4, 5 of the Explosive Substances Act at the State Special Operation Cell police station, Mohali.
