37 hotels sealed in Kasol, Tosh
Kullu district administration conducted a day-long drive and sealed 37 illegally constructed hotels in Kasol and Tosh hamlets in Parvati valley on Tuesday.
Following the Himachal Pradesh high court’s orders, the government had set up a joint committee to identify illegal properties in the region, including hotels and restaurants. Of the total 48 hotels, the administration sealed 11 hotels which had incomplete documents. Besides, sealing illegal structures, the town and country planning department will cut electricity and water connections to these properties.
In wake of violent incident during a demolition drive in Kasauli on May 1, where an assistant town planner Shail Bala was shot dead, the district administration made special arrangements to avoid any untoward incident.
“Three teams were constituted comprising of 66 cops who were asked to take action if the hoteliers try to create nuisance ,” said Kullu superintendent of police Shalini Agnihotri.
The residents of Tosh, Kasol and Jari villages were also directed to deposit their weapons at the nearby police station.
POWER, WATER SUPPLY TO 30 MCLEODGANJ HOTELS TO BE CUT
DHARAMSHALA: Coming down hard on illegal constructions, water and power supply to over 30 hotels in McLeodganj area will be disconnected. In an order issued to Dharamshala municipal corporation, HP high court had asked the civic body to scrutinise records of 38 hotels for violating construction norms. In a meeting chaired on Monday evening, MC finalised the list of the violators, whose power and water supply will be cut.
Dharamshala MC commissioner Sandeep Kadam said these hotels have violated approved designs and maps and raised illegal constructions on them.
