11-kg heroin seized from two spots along Pak bor­der

BSF MEN STUM­BLED UPON SOME YELLOW PACK­ETS NEAR THE BOR­DER OUT­POST JAGDISH UN­DER THE HUSSAINIWALA BOR­DER SEC­TOR

The Bor­der Se­cu­rity Force (BSF) per­son­nel seized about 11-kg sus­pected heroin from near two bor­der out­posts, one in Ferozepore and the other in Am­rit­sar’s At­tari sec­tor.

The BSF jawans seized 4.68-kg heroin from near a bor­der out­post in Ferozepur on Fri­day.

The con­tra­band re­cov­ered af­ter the BSF men stum­bled upon some yellow pack­ets near the bor­der out­post (BoP) Jagdish, un­der the Hussainiwala bor­der sec­tor. A to­tal of eight pack­ets con­tain­ing 4.68-kg sus­pected heroin were found, of­fi­cial sources said.

In the sec­ond in­ci­dent, per­son­nel of the 138 Bat­tal­ion of the force re­cov­ered 6.5-kg heroin dur­ing a search op­er­a­tion near the Daoke out­post in At­tari town, around 30 km from Am­rit­sar. “The pa­trolling team seized seven pack­ets of sus­pected heroin, weigh­ing 6.5 kg, from a field near the fence,” a BSF of­fi­cial said.

MOGA MAN HELD WITH 70GM HEROIN

MOGA: As part of a spe­cial cam­paign against drug smug­glers, po­lice have ar­rested a 40-yearold res­i­dent, Sukhwant Singh, of Ahata Badan Singh, with 70gm heroin.

Se­nior su­per­in­ten­dent of po­lice (SSP) Gur­preet Singh Toor said, “Two DSPs led a team of 200 of­fi­cials and con­ducted a search op­er­a­tion at the hide­out of sus­pected smug­glers un­der the ju­ris­dic­tion of City-2 po­lice.”

Sukhwant has been booked un­der Sec­tions 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act.

Toor added that 21 cases were reg­is­tered un­der the 15-day cam­paign that started on Septem­ber 1 and ended on Septem­ber 15.

“We have ar­rested 24 per­sons, nabbed 122-gm heroin, 1kg opium, 1.8kg drug power and 1,175 drug tablets over the past 15 days,” the SSP added.
