TWO ITBP MEN GET GAL­LANTRY AWARD POSTHUMOUSLY

: Two Indo Ti­betan Bor­der Po­lice (ITBP) con­sta­bles have been con­ferred with the Kirti Chakra posthumously for thwart­ing a sui­cide at­tack at the In­dian Em­bassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, in 2008, a Home min­istry of­fi­cial said. Con­sta­ble Ajay Singh Patha­nia, who hailed from Pathankot in Pun­jab, and Con­sta­ble Roop Singh of Mandi in Hi­machal Pradesh laid down their lives while pre­vent­ing an ex­plo­sive­laden ve­hi­cle from en­ter­ing the In­dian Em­bassy in Kabul on July 7, 2008, the of­fi­cial said.
