29yrold dies in road accident near Farrukhnagar, friend survives
GURURGAM : The Gururgam Police identified the victim who was burnt alive inside his Honda City car, while his co-passenger suffered injuries after they met with an accident on the Jhajjar-Farrukhnagar state highway near the KundaliManesar-Palwal Expressway, on Thursday evening.
The deceased has been identified as the 29-year-old Chand Singh, a resident of Sarai Alawardi. According to the police Singh, along with his friend Niranjan Lamba, had gone to Mahendergarh to drop Singh’s grandfather, on Thursday morning, and were returning when they met with an accident.
Lamba, 34, is undergoing treatment at a Delhi hospital, and according to the police, his statement has been recorded on Friday afternoon.
According to the police, Chand Singh had bought the car two months back. On Thursday, while driving down theJhaj jar Farrukhn agar state highway, Lamba and his friend’s car lost control, crashed into a culvert and slipped off the road. The impact of the accident was such that the car flipped several times on the road before coming to a halt. Soon after, the vehicle caught fire. Lamba told the police that the impact of the accident was so sudden that his friend could not move out of the car and was burnt alive. He, however, managed to open the door and rush out, before flames could engulf the car.
According to the police, the body of the victim was handed over to his family after the postmortem examination, on Friday
The police have started inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
