Plaint lodged against Phoolka for remarks against army chief
AMRITSAR: A day after senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Dhaka MLA HS Phoolka accused army chief Bipin Rawat of “orchestrating the Amritsar grenade attack”, Congress MLA Raj Kumar Verka on Monday lodged a complaint against him at the cantonment police station, here.
In his complaint, Verka said, “AAP MLA and senior advocate HS Phoolka has blamed the country’s army chief for the Amritsar attack, which is utterly condemnable.”
Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat, during his Punjab visit, on November 3 had said, “Attempts are being made through external linkages to revive insurgency in Punjab and if early action is not taken, it will be too late.”
With his complaint, Verka also submitted a CD carrying the video recording of HS Phoolka’s comment against the army chief. He said Phoolka should be booked for sedition (Section 124-A of the Indian Penal Code).
Superintendent of police (City2) Lakhbir Singh said, “We have received the complaint and it is being processed.”
