Woman kills husband with paramour’s help in Amritsar, booked

AMRITSAR: Police on Monday booked a 30-year-old woman and her ‘paramour’ for allegedly killing her husband at Chhidan village in the district last month.

The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Mukhtiar Singh of Chhidan village, while the accused are Mandeep Kaur and her alleged paramour Iqbal Singh of the same village.

Police said the incident took place on the night of October 29, while they got the complaint in this regard on Monday.

Victim’s brother Sitara Singh said, “My brother got married around 7-year-ago with Mandeep Kaur. He had been working in Dubai for last few months and had come home on October 18. On October 29, Mandeep rushed out of her room at around 3am and shouted that Mukhtiar was electrocut­ed.”

“I found Mukhtiar lying dead near the windows. After this, we cremated him at the village’s cremation ground on October 30.”

He said, “On November 3, I took Mandeep’s phone to make a call. While searching her phone’s files, I found a call recording of October 29, through which I came to know that Mandeep had illicit relations with Iqbal Singh and they had killed my brother.”

“Later, I informed about the recording to other family members and relatives. After discussion, we decided to lodge a complaint with the police,” he added.

Lopoke police station’s sub-inspector (SI) Randhir Singh said on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, a case under Section 302, 201, 120 B and 34, of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the woman and her alleged paramour, who are on the run.
