BATHINDA : With speculations of lifting the sit-in at Faridkot’s Bargari on Sunday doing the rounds, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s dissident leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira and party MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi on Friday condemned the likely move of the morcha leaders who are heading the months-long stir.

Khaira said he along with other dissident leaders and party MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi will “intensify our struggle for justice” on the sacrilege issue.

“It is uncalled for. I don’t think it is a wise decision because the government has not fulfilled a single demand,” he said talking to HT on phone. He, along with Dr Gandhi and the Bains brothers of the Lok Insaaf Party (LIP), will kicking off their nine-day march that would conclude at Patiala on December 17.

Gandhi, when contacted, termed the likely move to lift the protest “a compromise”. “I wonder on what grounds this compromise is being made?” he asked, stressing that the Punjab government had not met the demands of the parallel jathedars.

“Neither the Badals have been touched nor any of the Sikh detenues (during militancy) has been released,” he said.

Another dissident AAP MLA Kanwar Sandhu said the sacrilege and the police firing incidents were the key issues besides the state government’s failure on issues like unemployment and farmer suicides.
