THE OFFICER ALLEGEDLY REFUSED TO RECEIVE COURT WARRANTS FROM ED OFFICIAL AND ALSO MISBEHAVED WITH HIM

CHANDIGARH: The Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court here has taken a strong note of the alleged misbehaviour by the secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Ludhiana, Lovejeet Kaur Kalsi, with an enforcement directorate (ED) officer.

The special court issued a show-cause notice to Kalsi, asking as to why action should not be taken against her for misbehaving with the officer who had gone to her office to serve warrants issued by the CBI court, Mohali. Kalsi instead of complying with the court directive, did not even bother to receive the bailable warrants and allegedly told the ED officer to leave the office.

The CBI court had sought details of some vehicles with vanity numbers from the RTA, belonging to one of the accused in the Jagdish Bhola drug racket case, Jagjit Singh Chahal.

The PMLA court issued Kalsi the notice for December 8 (Saturday), and asked RTA clerk Amardeep Singh, who appeared before the court on Friday, to serve the notice to Kalsi today itself.

Sources said ED official Satesh Raina had gone to serve the bailable warrants to Kalsi on Thursday and she not only refused to receive it but also misbehaved with him.

Following this, the ED placed on record that Kalsi misbehaved with the officer and sought penal action against her.

In response, the court issued a notice to Kalsi for Saturday, asking her to explain why action should not be taken against for misbehaving with the officer.

In the Jagdish Bhola drug racket case, the CBI court has already framed charges under sections 4 of PMLA against former jails minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur (72), former CPS Avinash Chander (54), Phillaur’s son Damanvir Singh (37), businessman Jagjit Singh Chahal (47), his Ludhiana-based brother Paramjit Singh Chahal (42), Inderjit Kaur (45), wife of Jagjit Singh Chahal; Davinder Kant Sharma (49) of Una (Himachal Pradesh), who worked as a manager at Chahal’s drug-manufacturing factory in Gagret; Sachin Sardana, Sushil Kumar Sardana, Kailash Sardana (wife of Sushil Sardana) and Rashmi Sardana (wife of Sachin Sardana).
