Couple, child die in Gurdaspur mishap

GURDASPUR : A couple and their three-year-old daughter died on Friday when their motorcycle was hit by a tractor-trailer at Babbehali village, 5 kilometres from the district headquarters in Gurdaspur.

The three — Veeru (28), his wife Pindu (25) and daughter Prabhjot (3) of Harchowal — died on the spot, police said.

They were going to attend a marriage at Marara village, it was learnt.

Tibber station house officer (SHO) Sham Lal said the tractortrailer driver fled the spot, leaving his vehicle behind. The bodies were sent to the civil hospital, Gurdaspur, for post-mortem.

A case under Section 304-A of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the driver who is yet to be identified, the SHO added.
