Even as the state government claims to be on the forefront in implementing the Ayushman Bharat National Health Protection Scheme (AB-NHPS), there are still two districts where no private hospital has been empanelled under the scheme.

As per the figures provided by the Ayushman Haryana department, as many as 84 government hospitals have been empanelled under the flagship scheme across 22 districts of the state.

Apart from this, 207 private hospitals are also empanelled across the state except for those in Charkhi Dadri and Nuh districts.

The state government had started this scheme from August 15 as a pilot project whereas the flagship scheme was launched in the country on September 23.

The scheme provides an insurance health cover of ₹5 lakh to deprived rural and urban families. The benefits are being given as per Socio-Economic-Caste census (SECC) 2011 data.

The scheme’s state nodal officer Dr Ravi Vimal said that the scheme covers 1,350 treatment packages, out of which 275 packages have not been permitted to private hospitals.

“In some districts, private hospitals couldn’t fulfil the parameters set by the government. The state government is mulling over allowing permission to private hospitals to treat patients of 275 packages also,” the nodal officer added.

He further said that on an average more than 5,000 cards issued across the state. According to the Ayushman Haryana department, as many as 1.83 lakh golden cards have been issued to beneficiaries so far, out of these 2,072 patients are undergoing treatment or have completed their treatment. Of the 2,072 patients, 1,142 patients are being treated in government hospitals while 930 are in private hospitals. Yamunanagar tops the chart with 16,000 golden cards followed by Karnal and Faridabad with 12,500 and 12,000 cards till December 6.

In Charkhi Dadri district, only 2,500 golden cards have been issued to the beneficiaries followed by Nuh and Panchkula with 2,900 and 3,000 cards respectively.

“I had taken my golden card from Charkhi Dadri but since no private hospital here has been empanelled under the scheme, I will visit Bhiwani for a heart stint,” said a patient pleading anonymity.
