PHOOLKA KEEPS SGPC ON TENTERHOOKS
Former AAP leader Harvinder Singh Phoolka’s move to launch a ‘Sikh Sewak Army’ has sent the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) office-bearers into a tizzy. After the Delhi high court awarded life sentence to Sajjan Kumar for his role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, the SGPC decided to honour Phoolka along with lawyers and witnesses. But he then announced to “liberate” the SGPC, which manages Golden Temple and other historic gurdwaras, from alleged control of the Badal family. The SGPC office-bearers are now in a fix whether to honour the renowned advocate or not. They first postponed the event and now appear reluctant to hold the ceremony seemingly due to his stand.
