LEGAL MINEFIELD AWAITS QUOTA IMPLEMENTATION

The new reservation bill may yet have to pass through a legal minefield, as the Modi government has got it through the legislature in a day. If the bill is challenged in a court, the Constitutional amendment

may not pass muster. An alternative could be to reduce the quotas of other reserved categories to keep the overall reservation percentage at 50%. The BJP also had this strategy in mind, while pushing through the bill in such a manner. Lal Singh
