Panipat ASI, constable suspended

-

AMBALA: Two policemen were suspended on Thursday for allegedly beating up a security guard posted at the deputy commissioner’s office in Panipat.

The cops were identified as assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sultan and head constable Ranbir, and the victim as Jagdeep Singh

Interacting with the media, Ram Mehar, the guard’s brother who hails from Nimbri village of Panipat, alleged that district superintendent of police (DSP) Sumit Kumar is protecting both the cops by not taking prompt action against them.

“The SP had even misbehaved with us when we complained about the accused. Both the cops were drunken when they attacked my brother at 9 pm on January 20 outside the mini secretariat in Panipat. My brother was rushed by his colleagues to a hospital in the city. I had written against the SP to Prime minister Narendra Modi, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and home minister Rajnath Singh not taking prompt action against the cops,” he added. SP Sumit Kumar denied the allegations against him and said he has suspended both the cops after receiving a complaint. “A team has been formed to investigate the matter,” he added.
