POST-BLACKFACE, TWO MORE SCANDALS LEAVE VIRGINIA DEMOCRATS RED-FACED

Democrats came down hard on Virginia governor Ralph Northam for a racist photo, but they were quieter as two more scandals one racial and a sexual assault allegation - rocked Virginia’s statehouse. The subdued response from Democrats has put them in a bind. Last Friday, a photo of a man in blackface in Northam’s medical school yearbook surfaced. Northam admitted he had once worn blackface. On Wednesday, the Democrat who would succeed Northam, Justin Fairfax, was accused by a woman of sexually assaulting her 15 years ago. Later, Mark Herring, the Democrat who would succeed Fairfax, admitted he wore blackface in college.
