AAP seeks cut in electricit­y rates

: Threatenin­g to launch a stir against what it claimed were sky-rocketing electricit­y rates in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has sought a cut in rates across the state. The party’s Majha zone president Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, who is also its MP candidate from Amritsar, said, “Delhi borrows electricit­y from other states and the AAP government just charge Rs 1, including taxes, for first 200 units of electricit­y. However, Punjab which generates electricit­y using its own mediums, charges Rs 9 per unit.
