Truck crushes 3 to death in Una

THE OUT-CONTROLTRU­CK RAMMED INTO FIVE SHOPS HURTING ATLEAST 12 PEOPLE

DHARAMSHAL­A: Three people were killed and around a dozen were injured when an out-ofcontrol truck rammed into some shops in the industrial town of Tahliwal in Una district on Friday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Sanjeev Kumar, 32, of Karmpur village, his son Ayush,7, and one-year-old, Prachi.

Una superinten­dent of police (SP) Diwakar Sharma, who was present on the spot, said the truck, carrying hydrogen gas cylinders, was on its way to Nangal from Dulehar when the incident took place. Over a dozen vehicles and five shops were also damaged in the mishap.

The senior superinten­dent of police said that prima facie it seems the driver lost control over the vehicle due to brake failure.

Among the five injured, two were referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.The other injured were rushed to the civil hospital in Una. The truck driver, who fled from the spot, was charged with rash and negligent driving and causing death due to negligence.

Una deputy commission­er Rakesh Kumar Prajapati said the administra­tion will provide immediate relief to the kin of deceased as per the relief manual.

The expenses on the treatment of injured will also be taken care of by the government.
