CITIZENSHIP BILL: PROTECT INTERESTS OF NE STATES
The central government has indulged in pre-poll adventurism by passing the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill. This has led to the entire northeast going into turmoil as certain minorities like Ahmadiyya in Pakistan and Bihari Muslims in Bangladesh are left out. The government should also include these communities to make the bill more secular and in the letter and spirit of the Indian constitution. The interests of the northeastern states must not be hampered. PS Bedi, Amritsar
