PUNJAB’S FINANCIAL WOES HIT UT EMPLOYEES, TEACHERS

Due to non-implementa­tion of new pay scales in Punjab, government and government- aided employees of Chandigarh are deprived of pay hike on a par with the Central Seventh Pay Commission. New recruits are drawing only basic salary. It is evident that there is no scarcity of funds and most of the department­s associated with Chandigarh have enough resources to withstand the burden of new pay scales due to sufficient support from the central government. Yet, new pay scales could not be implemente­d in Chandigarh as the salary structure of UT has to be in synchroniz­ation with Punjab. Why should Chandigarh employees be victimised and harassed due to bad financial health of Punjab? Karan Singh Vinayak,
