SUGARCANE FARMERS FACING INJUSTICE

-

Reports suggest that ₹20,000 crore is outstanding towards sugarcane farmers from sugar mills. This shows that there is misuse and diversion of funds. In the bargain, farmers are facing injustice. Why is the government not redressing their grievance and why should farmers have to supply the crop on credit? The situation calls for immediate government intervention and a directive must be issued to sugar mills to pay farmers their dues. Henceforth, cash payment must be paid for crop supplied.
