: Additional district and sessions judge DR Chalia on Saturday awarded life imprisonment to a woman and her brother-in-law in a murder case.

The court also slapped a fine of ₹5,000 on both the accused.

Talking to mediapersons, deputy district attorney (DDA) Rajiv Sardana said, “The incident dates back to October 27, 2016, when the police recovered a bullet-ridden body near Jewara village of Hisar.”

On October 28, the body was identified as that of Jaipal Singh alias Sonu.

On the complaint of his uncle, Satbir Singh, police registered a murder case against unidentified persons.

Based on the investigation, police arrested Surender of Kharal village of Jind district, who later confessed to his crime. He revealed that his sister-in-law, Rubina, had approached him, saying that she was having an affair with Sonu and he had refused to marry her.

Following this, the police arrested Rubina, who told the police that Surender and she had gone to Hisar on October 27, and planned the murder of Jaipal Singh. Rubina, later called Jaipal to the crime spot and asked Surender to kill him.

The duo were booked under Section 302 (murder) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act, police said.
