PAY, PENSION OUTGO

Of the state’s total revenue receipts, over 48% goes into meeting its committed liabilities on salary, pensions and retirement benefits. The government will spend ₹26,978 crore on salaries and ₹10,875 crore on pension and retirement benefits this year. The state employees get higher wages than their counterparts in most other states. And, their 6th Pay Commission and DA instalments are due.
