‘Parliament was a good learning experience’
What were the high points of your five-year term?
I have been working with honesty for the welfare of people of all castes and communities. I tried to work for almost every village and the development is there for everyone to see. I actively participated in Parliament. I was active in my constituency till my health allowed me.
One thing you wished to do as an MP, but couldn’t? Why?
I wanted to set up an international stadium and a domestic airport in Karnal though I could not get them due to certain government norms.
Would you like to contest again? Why should people re-elect you?
I wanted to contest again but my health does not permit me to. But I will continue serving the people of Karnal to the best of my ability in return for their love and support.
How was your experience in Parliament?
It was a good learning experience. Despite being a first-time MP, I raised 379 questions and participated in debates. I have a good rapport with other members and ministers.
Though my husband announced that he will not contest, I’ve been asked by the people of the constituency to do so. I’ve been associated with the constituency for the past four-and-a-half years and served it through my NGO. KIRAN CHOPRA, Ashwini’s wife
