CONG SEEKS ACTION AGAINST GROVER, BJP HITS BACK
ROHTAK: Reiterating its allegation of ‘booth-capturing’ in Rohtak, the Congress on Monday demanded an FIR against local MLA and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister of state Manish Grover for allegedly ‘intimidating voters’ during Sunday’s Lok Sabha elections. The BJP, on the other hand, hit back at the Congress and said that it was resorting to such allegations foreseeing its loss. In two separate news conferences addressed by former Rohtak Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra and BJP candidate Arvind Sharma on Monday, the two parties made a series of serious allegations against each other. Batra said the state police was being forced to not take any action against Grover despite a video proof of him going inside polling booths.
“The police arrested his (Grover’s) aides but did not register a case against him. It is clear the is government pressurising the police department,” said Batra.
BJP’s Sharma though maintained that Grover had prior permission to enter the polling booths and take stock of the situation.
