NEED TO OVERHAUL EDUCATION SYSTEM
In the last few decades, an era marked by a diminishing public sector, lack of reforms, unjustified privatisation, reduced grants and vacant positions in government and governmentaided colleges and universities have wreaked havoc on our education system. The nation, enthused by start-ups, needs indigenous entrepreneurship, new ideas to develop skills and abilities which can make job creators rather than job seekers. Plagued by rote system, this pedagogy of education, which was brought in by Macaulay during the British era, is unproductive. No stress on practical training and skill development has lead thousands of Indian graduates and postgraduate unfit for even small services and lowly jobs. Dr Karan Singh Vinayak,
