PITRODA’S THOUGHTLESS COMMENT

This refers to the news item ‘Pitroda’s ‘hua to hua’ remark on 1984 riots sparks political storm’ (HT, May 11). Pitroda’s insensitive remark has is really unfortunate. He seems to have nullified the regret expressed by top Congress leaders in Parliament. It is an irony that in 2014, it was Mani Shankar Aiyar who denounced Modi as ‘chaiwala’ – a moniker successfully exploited by the BJP to its advantage. Now, Pitroda’s remark will be milked to death by the ruling party. The Congress would do well by withdrawing Pitroda from public scene as did with Mani Shankar Aiyar to avoid further damage in the last leg of the elections. No doubt, the BJP is sorely missing Aiyar’s absence. Dr BN Anand, Mohali
