Am­loh leg­is­la­tor reaches out to re­volt­ing Cong work­ers in Nabha

A day af­ter Congress pres­i­dent Rahul Gandhi’s rally at Khanna, Am­loh MLA Ran­deep Singh rushed to state cab­i­net min­is­ter Sadhu Singh Dharmsot’s con­stituency, Nabha, af­ter a sec­tion of Congress work­ers re­volted against Dharmsot . The re­volt­ing party work­ers had an­nounced to sup­port Pun­jab Demo­cratic Al­liance’s (PDA) can­di­date Dr Dharmvir Gandhi af­ter be­ing al­legedly ig­nored by Dharmsot. Gandhi is con­test­ing Lok Sabha elec­tions against Congress can­di­date Pre­neet Kaur from Pa­tiala.

Dharmsot had called it a hand­i­work of the Am­loh MLA as he wanted to con­test from the Pa­tiala seat. He had said that he doesn’t see the re­volt­ing work­ers as Congress vot­ers.

As per sources, Rahul Gandhi and Ran­deep Singh had a closed door meet­ing dur­ing Gandhi’s Khanna meet­ing on Mon­day. Ran­deep, how­ever, re­fused to dis­close what tran­spired in the meet­ing.

Ran­deep said he and his fa­ther Gur­dar­shan Singh’s names have been un­nec­es­sar­ily dragged into the is­sue and he has come to Nabha to con­vince the re­volt­ing party work­ers to cam­paign in sup­port of Pre­neet Kaur. “My fam­ily has been ar­dent work­ers of Congress. We want Rahul Gandhi to be the next prime min­is­ter,” said Ran­deep Singh. “I had no role in the de­ci­sion that was taken in the gath­er­ing of the Congress work­ers,” he added. He said he was reach­ing out to the work­ers and urg­ing them to set­tle per­sonal scores af­ter elec­tions, adding, “I will cam­paign in Nabha on Wednesday and par­tic­i­pate in chief min­is­ter’s rally.”
