Woman booked for hurl­ing slip­per at Sidhu

Po­lice on Tues­day booked a woman who al­legedly hurled a slip­per at Pun­jab cab­i­net min­is­ter and for­mer crick­eter Navjot Singh Sidhu dur­ing an elec­tion meet­ing at Ro­htak’s Gandhi Camp area on May 8.

The ac­cused has been iden­ti­fied as Ji­ten­der Vij, a res­i­dent of the same area. The po­lice said a sup­porter of the Congress who had or­ga­nized Sidhu’s event in the colony gave a com­plaint against Ji­ten­der for throw­ing her ‘cha­pal’ at the min­is­ter while he was giv­ing his speech.

He also sub­mit­ted a video in which the woman al­legedly con­fessed to have thrown slip­per at Sidhu be­cause he was crit­i­cis­ing PM Naren­dra Modi. The po­lice booked her un­der Sec­tion 127 of Rep­re­sen­ta­tion of Peo­ple Act and Sec­tion 504 of IPC.
