Man who was shot at apol­o­gises to mil­i­tants for his po­lit­i­cal links

SRI­NA­GAR : Na­tional Con­fer­ence worker, who was al­legedly shot and in­jured by mil­i­tants on Mon­day evening, was warned to stay away from pol­i­tics be­fore be­ing shot.

Mil­i­tants fired on Sa­j­jad Ganai, 35, near his res­i­dence at Chi­tragam Kalan vil­lage of south Kash­mir’s Shopian dis­trict on Mon­day evening.

The NC worker suf­fered a gun­shot wound in his leg and was rushed to a hos­pi­tal.

His con­di­tion is now stated to be sta­ble.

In a video, pur­port­edly shot by the mil­i­tants be­fore in­jur­ing him, has been shared widely on so­cial me­dia.

The NC worker is seen seek­ing an apol­ogy from the mil­i­tants for his as­so­ci­a­tion with the NC, as they aim their guns at him.

Sa­j­jad, who is said to be a close as­so­ciate of for­mer NC leg­is­la­tor Showkat Ah­mad Ganai, is heard say­ing that he will break his ties with the po­lit­i­cal party and Showkat Ganai and will con­cen­trate on his fam­ily and two daugh­ters.

Some se­nior NC lead­ers vis­ited him at the hos­pi­tal on Tues­day.

“Sa­j­jad is sta­ble now. The gun­men had barged into his home last night. First they shot his video and af­ter tak­ing him out­side the house, they fired on his leg,’’ for­mer NC leg­is­la­tor Showkat Ganai­said.
