Rahul’s Bargari visit only rubbed salt on Sikhs’ wounds: SAD

-

BATHINDA : The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday termed the visit of Congress president Rahul Gandhi to Bargari in faridkot district as adding insult to injury of Sikhs, saying he comes from a family which is responsible for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and the attack on the Golden Temple.

At a press conference, former Akali minister Bikram Singh Majithia and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president Manjinder Singh Sirsa said Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Bargari is the “saddest day in the history of Sikh religion”. “He (Rahul Gandhi) has the audacity to come on a state-sponsored visit. Just to save his chief ministership, Amarinder has given up his Sikh ethos. It is unfortunate that he has forgotten what the Sikh religion and community has gone through in the last three and half decades,” Majithia said.
