BATHINDA: Bhartiya Kisan Union (EKta– Ugrahan) and Punjab Khet Majdoor Union on Wednesday exhorted farmers and labourers to get united and launch struggle for their issues instead of expecting anything from political parties and the governments. The farm unions held “farmers and farm labourer awareness conference” and a march in the city. Farm union leader Jhanda Singh Jethuke said all political parties, including regional parties, are representatives of corporate houses and work for their interests. “The farm crisis in the country is also the result of pro –corporate houses and anti–farmer policies of successive governments at Centre,” he said. He said that government can be forced to form pro-farmer policies only through collective struggle.
