EXIT POLLS MISLEADING, EC MUST BAN THEM

-

The final results of the general elections will be declared on May 23, but the country is anxiously waiting for the outcome of exit polls after the end of polling in the last phase on May 19. Before the actual counting, exit polls will once again provide fodder for speculation. But there have been several instances in the past when exit polls were way off the mark. One instance being in 2004, when all exit polls gave a majority to the Atal Bihari Vajyapee-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) but the results surprised everyone. In 2014, most exit polls predicted a victory for the NDA, but none predicted a majority for the BJP on its own. Exit polls should be banned as they are just a business model for TV channels and other agencies involved in the process.
