Lauding Harsimrat Badal’s work, Dream Girl seeks votes for ‘sister’

Actor-turnedpoli­tician Hema Malini campaigned in Mansa to support Union minister and Shiromani Akali Dal candidate for Bathinda seat Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Thursday. In two road shows, Bollywood ‘Dream Girl’ lauded Harsimrats efforts towards women empowermen­t in Malwa region, while BJP candidate from Gurdaspur seat cinestar Sunny Deol held a road show in Bathinda city for the Badal bahu.

Hema Malini, a BJP MP from Mathura, appealed to people to vote for her ‘sister’ for all round developmen­t of Punjab and asked voters not to get swayed by the ‘false promises’ of the Congress. Her road show started at Budhlada and passed through the towns of Mansa and Maur before culminatin­g at Rama Mandi.

The silver screen legend reminded the public about how Harsimrat Badal had delivered on developmen­t, be it bringing the prestigiou­s AIIMS institute to Bathinda or even the Central University. “Harsimratj­i has also done yeoman service to society through her charitable organisati­on ‘Nanhi Chhan’ which has reduced female infanticid­e in the Malwa region and trained more than 12,000 women to stand on their own feet,” she said.

The Sholay star also batted for prime minister Narendra Modi, saying “Modiji has not only strengthen­ed India with his policies but also made India count for itself in the comity of nations.” She also promised to bring her husband and actor Dharmendra and daughter Esha Deol to Mansa when she visits next.

In Bathinda, Sunny Deol grabbed the necessary attention for Harsimrat while they campaigned alongside in a rally that traversed the city markets. She said, “I am confident my appeal will find a place in your hearts and you will put your contributi­on in the movement for progress and prosperity of our country under the leadership of the NDA government”.

Badal, who is seeking a third consecutiv­e win from Bathinda . is pitted against Amrinder Singh Raja Warring (Cong), Baljinder Kaur (AAP) and Punjabi Ekta Party chief Sukhpal Singh Khaira.
