Jat quota stir: Hearing in sedition case against Hooda’s political adviser adjourned

: A local court on Friday adjourned hearing in the sedition and rioting case, pertaining to Jat quota stir in 2016, against former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s chief political adviser Prof Virender, khap leader Maan Singh Dalal and local Congress leader Jaideep Dhankar.

Prof Virender and Jaideep Dhankhar appeared in the court of additional sessions judge Ritu YK Behl but Mann Singh skipped the hearing as he was hospitalis­ed. Mann Singh’s lawyer Naseeb Panghal said he appeared in the court for his counsel and moved an applicatio­n, seeking exemption from Friday’s hearing,which was accepted by the additional sessions judge. The court has fixed November 29 as the next date of hearing.The FIR was lodged after an audio clipping purportedl­y containing a telephonic conversati­on between Prof Virender and Dalal went viral.

ATTACK ON ABHIMANYU’S HOUSE: YOUTH GETS BAIL

Sudeep Kalkal, a Jat youth who was one of the accused in the case pertaining to the attack on finance minister Captain Abhimanyu’s residence in Rohtak in February 2016, was granted bail on Friday. He was lodged in Sunaria

jail in Rohtak for the past three years.

Speaking to the media after his release, Kalkal said, “Justice can be delayed but not derailed. I went to jail a day after my daughter was born. I have come home after a gap of three years.”

“I was implicated in the case. I had only gone near Captain’s house to control the angry mob. Our journey for Jat reservatio­n will continue in the future also,” he added.
