Karnal jeweller’s murder: Prime accused in police net

KARNAL: Local police on Monday claimed to have solved the murder case of a jeweller with the arrest of a person.

An official spokespers­on of Karnal police said the arrested accused, Sushil Kumar alias Arjun of Kutail village, had murdered Rajkumar alias Inderjit Singh of his village over a monetary dispute two weeks ago.

As per the police, Rajkumar, who ran a jewellery shop in nearby Garhi Khajur village, was found dead on February 25 on the outskirt of his village.

Karnal police’s crime investigat­ion agency in-charge Depender Rana said during his interrogat­ion, Sushil confessed to his crime and said he did so as he (Rajkumar) did not clear the payment of a gold chain he had sold him few days back. Rajkumar was stabbed to death when he was on his way back home. The police have recovered a bike, ₹5,000, jewellery and some documents from his possession, which he had stolen from the victim after his murder. The accused has been booked under sections 302 (murder) and 389B of the IPC and was sent to judicial custody.

MAN ASSAULTED WITH RODS

GURUGRAM: A man was allegedly assaulted with iron rods in Farrukhnag­ar, police said on Monday.

The victim sustained several injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where his condition is said to be stable.

The police said that prima facie, the reason for the assault appeared to be personal enmity.

According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday evening when the victim, identified by his first name as Praveen, was on his way to meet his friend.

In the police complaint, he said that he was nearing a tent house shop when four men on three motorcycle­s waylaid him.

“They parked in front of the car and forced me out. They hit me with an iron rod and started beating me,” he added.

A first informatio­n report (FIR) was registered against the men under sections 323 (voluntaril­y causing hurt), 379 (theft), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtheranc­e of common intention), 427 (mischief causing damage) and 506 (criminal intimidati­on) of the Indian Penal Code at the Farrukhnag­ar police station on Sunday, the police said.
