Pathankot-Delhi flight resumes operations

PATHANKOT: Only 12 passengers flew from Pathankot to New Delhi in the resumed air service on Tuesday, which were earlier grounded due to the nationwide lockdown. Fifteen persons had made bookings and three of them cancelled the trip. Dr Ravi Kumar who screened the passengers at the airport said that every passenger underwent thermal scanning, airport authoritie­s had sanitised the airport and the aircraft. Meanwhile, Pathankot-Chandigarh bus service was been resumed with three buses plying on this route on Tuesday. Jeevan Kumar, nodal officer of Punjab Roadways said earlier the buses were being run till Hoshiarpur from where, passengers were taking buses for Chandigarh.

1,600 migrants leave for Bihar GURDASPUR: As many as 1,600 migrants of Bihar, who were stranded here due to lockdown, were sent back by a train from Gurdaspur on Tuesday. Earlier, on May 19, 1,195 migrants were sent back to UP from here. Gurdaspur DC Mohammad Ishfaq and legislator Barinderme­et Singh Pahra showered flowers on the labourers to welcome them at the railway station before they boarded the train. DC said the administra­tion made arrangemen­ts for stay and meals for the migrants during their stay in Gurdaspur. They spent ₹10.16 lakh on purchasing train tickets for these people.

925 labourers leave from Ferozepur Cantt FEROZEPUR: A Shramik Express with 925 migrants onboard chugged off from Ferozepur Cantt railway station to Bettiah district in Bihar. The Punjab government is bearing all expenses for this, which was around Rs 9.52 lakh. The state government has flagged off 13 trains to UP and Bihar. Executive magistrate Gurtej Singh Gill flagged off the train from Ferozepur. Apart from free travel, state is also ensuring food for migrants who are returning to their native state. A team of the health department screened every migrant at the station.
