With spike of 110 cases, Himachal’s count now 1,631
SHIMLA/DHARAMSHALA: With the steepest single-day spike of a record 110 cases, Himachal’s tally shot up to 1,631 on Monday.
Forty-two cases were reported in Solan district, twenty-three in Shimla, 21 in Sirmaur, 12 in Kangra, three in Bilaspur and two each in Chamba, Mandi, Una and Hamirpur and one case in Kullu. Previously, the highest number of cases were reported on July 13 when 78 people were found positive.
18 ITBP PERSONNEL AMONG 23 POSITIVE
In Shimla, 18 Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) jawans were among the 23 people to test positive. Rampur sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Surender Mohan said the jawans were of ITBP’s 43rd Battalion based at Jeori camp. They had returned from leave recently from different states and were in institutional quarantine at Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) complex at Jeori.Two labourers tested positive at Mehndali village in Rohru. They came from Azamgarh of Uttar Pradesh and were home quarantined.
Two patients tested positive in Bhattakufer and Jatog area on the outskirts of Shimla town.
Both were in quarantine.
MIGRANT LABOURERS INFECTED IN SOLAN
In Solan district, 42 cases, including 38 from Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) industrial belt have tested positive. They are mostly migrant labourers with a travel history to affected areas or primary contacts of affected patients. Three cases were reported in Dharampur and one in Solan town. Solan Deputy Commissioner KC Chaman said that 32 cases had been reported in Aristo Pharma Company.
Sirmaur district saw another spike in Covid-19 cases with 21 people testing positive for the contagion. Twenty of them are from Govindgarh locality. A total of 58 case have been reported in Govindgarh in less than a week.
11ARMY JAWANS AMONG 12 TEST POSITIVE
Twelve people, including eleven army jawans, tested positive in Kangra district. The deputy commissioner said the 10 jawans had come from different states and were in an institutional quarantine at a facility at Yol Cantonment, the headquarters of Rising Star Corps (9 Corps) near Dharamshala town.One Jawan already admitted to the Military Hospital, Palampur has also been tested positive.
