3 HARYANA MEN KILLED, 2 INJURED IN ROAD MISHAP IN HIMACHAL

SHIMLA: Three Haryana residents were killed and two others were injured after the pick-up truck they were travelling in veered off the road and plunged into a gorge in Rohru sub-division of Shimla, police said on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Nikhil Kumar, 26, who was behind the wheel; Gaurav Chauhan, 26; and Vijay Kumar, 23. While Manoj Kumar, 26 and Vinod Singh, 26 sustained injuries. All victims were residents of Khera village in Kalka.

The accident took place late on Friday on the Sungari-Sharmali link road near Sharmali village after the driver lost control of the vehicle. Locals immediatel­y alerted the police who rescued the injured and recovered the bodies. Manoj and Vinod are undergoing treatment at the Rohru Civil Hospital.

3 killed, 5 injured after vehicle plunges into gorge in J&K

JAMMU: Three people, including a 26-year-old woman and her newborn, were killed and five persons injured on Saturday when a van skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, police said.

The accident took place near Dhanas village and it is suspected that the driver lost control over the vehicle while navigating a blind curve, a police official said.

The vehicle was coming from Chenani, he said.

The injured persons were rescued and hospitalis­ed, the official said, adding that the two of them were critical.The woman, Shaanu Devi, and her child died on the spot, while a 50-year-old person succumbed during treatment, he said.
