Judgment doesn’t mean there is no evidence against Badals, says Sidhu

AMRITSAR/CHANDIGARH: Congress MLA from Amritsar East Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday said Punjab and Haryana high court’s judgment in the Kotakapura firing case doesn’t mean there is no evidence against former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

In a tweet, Sidhu said, “The judgment does not mean that there is no evidence against Badals, it just means investigation has not provided any, Why? ... It is a temporary reprieve for Badals until a fair investigation brings them to dock. Not exonerated, only on borrowed time. Let’s fight for Justice!! (sic).”

He is tweeting on this issue on a daily basis. On Saturday, he said in a tweet, “How will we get Justice? If 2 years after naming Prakash & Sukhbir Badal in chargesheet no challan was filed against them nor their names added to the FIR. Why evidence indicating the two, not examined or brought before court? Who is responsible for delaying & weakening the case (sic)?”

On April 9, the HC quashed the Kotkapura police firing probe conducted by a special investigation team (SIT) led by former Punjab Police inspector general Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh. The SIT was formed by the state government, but the court asked the formed reconstitute it without Pratap.

Not a clean chit to Badals: AAP

firing case does not give a clean chit to the Badals. He said the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib in 2015 was carried out under a premeditated conspiracy, and on the orders of the government, policemen opened fire at Sikh protesters. “Amarinder had promised to punish the perpetrators, but he was instead saving them,” he said.

Sikh bodies to discuss sacrilege cases at ‘Panthic assembly’

Various Sikh bodies have decided to call a virtual ‘Panthic assembly’ in the coming months to discuss incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in 2015. Former Takht Damdama Sahib jathedar Giani Kewal Singh, the convener of Panthic Talmel Sangathan, said, “The Sikh community has not got justice in sacrilege cases and the role of state government in pursuing these cases is under cloud.”
