No farmer turns up for a jab at Tikri border

Only 20 farmers have been administer­ed vaccine at Tikri so far. It is a very low count as compared to Singhu.

ROHTAK: Despite Jhajjar district administra­tion’s efforts and persuasion, no farmer turned up for vaccinatio­n at Tikri border on Sunday even as the protesters’ numbers have been increasing at the borders.

An official concerned of the Jhajjar health department said that as many as 10 farmers have appeared to get a vaccine jab at Tikri border on Saturday, taking the total vaccinatio­n to 20 so far.

“No farmer turned up on Sunday. Despite our continuous efforts, only 20 farmers were administer­ed at Tikri so far, which is very low as compared to Singhu. Farm leaders had also agreed to start the inoculatio­n process at both the protesting sites but the farmers are not appearing for vaccinatio­n,” officials added.

Sonepat civil surgeon JS Punia said that they have received a good response from farmers and they have given the first dose of vaccine to 1,293 farmers and second dose to 73 protesters.

“The farmers are cooperatin­g with our teams and we are hopeful that the numbers will rise,” Punia added.

In a press statement, the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha said that they have removed blockade from one side of the Chandigarh-Delhi road for transporta­tion of oxygen tankers and other vehicles carrying essential commoditie­s and alleged that the Delhi Police have not removed barricades from near Singhu border.
