POSITIVITY RATE DROPS TO 2.47% IN HP; 326 NEW COVID CASES

DHARAMSHAL­A: The weekly positivity rate in Himachal has come down to 2.47% over the past week — a 3% decline.

As per the health department data, the positivity rate dropped to 2.47% between June 7 and June 13.

A total of 1,42,357 tests were conducted in the state in last seven days — more than 20,000 per day. This is the highest number of tests in a week since the virus outbreak last year.

Meanwhile, the state saw 326 fresh Covid infections on Monday taking the case tally to 1,98,876, while the death toll mounted to 3,382 after seven patients succumbed to the contagion. Recoveries reached 1,91,041 after 664 people recuperate­d while the active cases have whittled down to 4,432. Three fatalities were recorded in Mandi and two each in Kangra and Shimla.

J&K sees less than 10 deaths in 53 days

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded 599 Covid-19 infections taking the overall total to 3,07,412.

For the first time in 53 days, the daily fatalities owing to coronaviru­s in the UT were in single digits with nine deaths taking the toll to 4,195. The number of active cases has dropped to 13,532 in the Union Territory, while 2,90,284 patients have recovered from the infection so far, the officials said. Srinagar district recorded the highest of 161 cases, followed by 62 in Kupwara district.
