AMRITSAR: Critical the state leadership on mishandling of farmers’ issue, former Punjab local bodies minister and senior BJP leader Anil Joshi trained his guns on senior party leader Harjit Singh Grewal saying the party workers are being thrashed due to his harsh language against the agitating farmers.

Replying to a query on controversial statements by Grewal, Joshi said: “The leaders who don’t have mass base and want to be nominated on key posts instead of participating in the electoral politics, are using such harsh language against the agitating farmers. However, they should understand that grassroots-level workers of the party have to pay the price. I urge Grewal to desist from using such language.”

The former Amritsar north MLA said: “I have just given a suggestion that if we fail to resolve the issue of farm laws, the party will have to pay the price in the 2022 elections.”

“I have made several efforts to get this issue resolved on the party platform and tried to convince the state and central leadership. If the party is adamant not revoke farm laws, why are BJP workers being exposed to this unsafe situation? The party workers should be asked to sit at home till the issue is resolved,” he added.

Hitting back at Joshi, Grewal said: “I stand with the party leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but Joshi speaks against them. Anyone who finds flaws in farm laws should quit the party.”
