EX-JALALABAD LEGISLATOR, FORMER DCP JOIN AAP
CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) got a boost when three-time former MLA from Jalalabad Mehtab Singh and former deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Balkar Singh joined the party on Tuesday.
While Mehtab joined the party along with his supporters at the party headquarters in Chandigarh, Balkar was inducted into the party fold by AAP Punjab affairs co-incharge Raghav Chadha in Jalandhar.
Party’s state affairs in-charge Jarnail Singh, state general secretary Harchand Singh Barsat and treasurer Neena Mittal formally inducted Mehtab and Joginder Kaka, a social worker from Bathinda, into the party. Mehtab, who is a former CPI leader, said he was inspired by the policies of the AAP and the development model of the Kejriwal government in Delhi. “During the Delhi elections, my son had worked for the AAP candidates and ensured their victory,” he said.
Party sources said Balkar is likely to contest the assembly election from Kartarpur constituency of Jalandhar district.
Balkar said he was impressed with the development works and policies of the party’s national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, and the AAP government in Delhi.
