CONSTRUCTION OF EXPRESSWAY LAYS FOUNDATION FOR DEVELOPMENT
Construction of Gorakhpur Link Expressway and it's linking with the Purvanchal Expressway is set to boost economic activities in the region
After taking charge as the Chief Minister in the year 2017, Yogi Adityanath had announced the construction of expressway to connect Gorakhpur with the Purvanchal Expressway at a program organised by the Chamber of Industries. Despite the period of corona transition, land was acquired and construction work has been going on at a rapid pace. About 27 per cent of the work has been completed.
In Gorakhpur, acquisition of 22 hectares of land was done at a fast pace followed by the construction work in an expeditious manner. Starting near Jaitpur village of Kalesar-Jagdishpur four lane, it will be connected to Purvanchal Expressway near Azamgarh. While the ambitious plan of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will open the way for the progress of lakhs of people of Ambedkar Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Azamgarh, new avenues of employment will also be opened along with controlling the migration of locals due to the development of industrial sector. Owing to the vision of the Chief Minister, the four-lane Link Expressway can be expanded into six lanes, if needed. To speed up the construction work, the Uttar Pradesh government has divided the Rs 5,876.68 crore project into two parts. The construction of package one started on February 10 last year while the second package also started on June 19 last year.
INDUSTRIAL CORRIDOR: A GATEWAY TO DEVELOPMENT OF DAKSHINANCHAL
Dakshinachal, which connects Gorakhpur and Azamgarh, is a backward area which has suffered a lot due to floods. Being a floodprone area, this area has neither been prosperous from the point of view of agriculture nor from the angle of industrial development. In the large part of this area, only one crop is grown. In such a situation, by presenting the blueprint of industrial development, CM has opened a new vista of hope. With the completion of the Link Expressway, social and economic development, agriculture, commerce, tourism will get a boost in this region. The earth work and underpass work is going on at a fast pace up to connect Kamharia Ghat via Khajni, Harnahi, Mahadeva, Usrain, Harredand, Sikriganj, Belghat.
The sanction of Rs 860 crore for the project has also given impetus to the work of the proposed industrial corridor along the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. In the first phase of the industrial corridor, about 1,000 acres of land in four villages is to be acquired. Land registry of many farmers has already been done. Gaurav Dubey, a resident of Barhalganj, says that transport is the prerequisite to the industrial development. Better transport facilities and connectivity to metro cities will change the picture of the entire area. People from this region migrate to Bangkok and Saudi Arabia in pursuit of job but the development will put an end to the migration. Till August 16, 2021, 99 per cent clearing and grubbing, 50 per cent earthwork, 26.1 per cent subgrade work, 20 per cent GSB work, 16.60 per cent WMM work, 13.15 DBM work was completed. The 27 per cent of the total physical progress of the project has been achieved till now. The expected time frame for completion of the project is April, 2022.
