DISTRICTS OF GORKHPUR-BASTI REGION TO GET A MEDICAL COLLEGE
The Central Government and UP State Government have given the gift of medical colleges to almost all the districts of Gorakhpur-Basti division. Soon, there will be medical colleges in all the districts of Gorakhpur and Basti divisions except Sant Kabir Nagar. While the medical colleges in Basti and Gorakhpur are ready to be inaugurated, the construction work in Deoria and Siddharthnagar are in final stages. The construction work has also started in Kushinagar, whereas in Maharajganj it will be starting soon based on the PPP model.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had laid the foundation stone of Maharishi Deoraha Baba Medical College on December 26, 2018. The construction of District Hospital, District Women's Hospital and medical college at 27 acres of land at a cost of Rs 200 crore has been undertaken by a private construction company under the supervision of UP Nirman Nigam from the year 2019. The company has been asked to complete the construction of the buildings by
November 21. 100 MBBS students are expected to start their studies this year. After selection from the government, 50 junior doctors, 7 senior residents and 16 professors have joined the medical college. It also includes female doctors.
Post the arrival of the doctors, OPD has started in the college which has brought great relief for the patients. The college principal said that while the OPD has already started, the medical college will be ready by November.
The construction work of the Medical College near District Hospital in Siddharthnagar started on March 1, 2019. It is scheduled to be completed by October 2021. The construction work of the 430bed medical college is nearing completion at a cost of Rs 226 crore.
The construction of a medical college has started on 13 acres of land on Rampur Farm, about 6km from the district headquarters in Kushinagar. Hostels for students and residences for teachers and administrative officers will be built in the campus itself. The district hospital will be upgraded, the medical college will have 500 beds. There are about 200 beds in the district hospital at present. The state government had released a budget of about Rs 200 crore last year itself. The residences of hospital officers, doctors and health workers will be built at the district headquarters.
KUSHINAGAR TO GET TRAUMA CENTRE
The state government has also given approval to set up a trauma centre in Kushinagar for the purpose of providing speedy treatment to the seriously injured in road accidents or other mishaps. For this, land has been marked near Kasaya on the side of the National Highway. The budget for its construction is expected to be released soon.
MAHARAJGANJ TO GET MEDICAL COLLEGE ON PPP MODEL
Medical college will be built in Maharajganj on PPP model. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who came to inaugurate the development projects in Chowk Bazar of the district, had made this announcement. Earlier, the administration had identified Vijaypur Government Farm land near Bagapar for this medical college. In December last year, a proposal for this land was also sent to the government, but the government did not find it suitable. Now another land is being identified. Construction will start after getting suitable land.
