Terrorists deserve no leniency

-

In assassination cases, given the immensity of the crime, capital punishment should be the norm. Such dreaded criminals may have been given the right to live their full life in prison, since capital punishment is considered abhorrent, retributive and anachronistic, but in no case should such criminals be allowed to be integrated with society. If the Gandhi family is not averse to any leniency towards the killers, it is magnanimous of them. The release of the assassins of Rajiv Gandhi amounts to showing misconceived leniency and will send out a wrong signal that even terrorism is also pardonable. Roshan Lal Goel
