SC restores the rights of rape victims
A laudable verdict was given by the Supreme Court against the invasive two-finger test conducted on rape victims. The verdict becomes substantial as it not only prohibited the unjust practice but also included crucial words like ‘re-victimize’ and ‘re-traumatize’ the sufferer, understanding the vulnerability of the mental and bodily integrity of the victim. Although the SC had given several rulings against this patriarchal test, the practice continued in certain areas of India. The ruling will act as a factor leading to a journey that will allay the dread of rape victims.
