Punjab move for gun-free culture deserves applause

The Punjab government’s decision to ban the public display of weapons and songs promoting gun culture and violence and to review all existing arms licences deserves applause. It’s an important step to control the deteriorating law and order. In a state like Punjab, where the yearning and fascination for weapons and power are undeniable, promoting a gun-free culture becomes a challenge. Though reforms take time but an administrative action taken and implemented in letter and spirit can have a lasting impact.
