Punjab to become medical education hub

Health Tourism too gets a big push in the state

-

The Punjab government is taking ground-breaking measures in the health sector. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently stated that we are servants of democracy and that the sole purpose of implementing all government schemes is public service.

Efforts are being made to provide better health care facilities to the people of Punjab so that they don’t have to travel to other states. At present, there are nine medical colleges in Punjab. But this number will be increased soon and 16 new medical colleges will be established.

The CM also mentioned that steps are been taken to recruit more doctors to overcome the problem of shortage.

According to the CM, the state has a proud legacy of producing world-class doctors. Mann said that the previous governments of Punjab did not focus on setting up quality medical colleges in the state, as a result of which a large number of students have to go abroad for medical education.

He claimed that students will no longer have to go to countries like Ukraine for pursuing medical education.

He has also reviewed the status of five medical colleges to be set up at Sangrur, SAS Nagar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur and Malerkotla. After this, the total number of medical colleges in the state will increase to 25, making Punjab the center of medical education.
